Characters of the Year Tag, 2020 edition

Hello loves!

I have a really fun tag for you today that I was tagged in by Ashlee over at Books are 42, so thank you Ashlee!! Make sure you go and check out her blog because it is really wonderful and she posts some wonderful bookish content.

So, the premise of this tag is that there are a bunch of categories and for each one you have to assign a character from a book that you read in the year (2020). Without further ado, let’s get on with the categories and the characters!

Favourite male character of the year

Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen!

Is there any other man that could make this, because let’s be honest we all want a Mr Darcy in our life to have an enemies to lovers romance with.

Favourite female character of the year

Amari Peters from Amari and the Night Brothers, by B.B.Alston.

You guys probably know how much I loved Amari and so she was a no brainer for this category, she is absolutely incredible and I just can’t wait to see what happens to her next and I will be following the series incredibly eagerly!

Most relatable character of the year

Frances from The Ship of Shadows.

Another book I have nothing but love for and I feel like I relate to Frances because I too need cake at all times. Seriously, if you do not feed me every couple hours I get cranky and honestly I cannot wait to the next book which apparently has a lot more cake and I am so ready to read all about it.

Couple of the year

My first thought was Lizzie and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice but then I remembered the incredible romance that was The Switch by Beth O’Leary and the stunning two romance that come out at the end.

My personal favourite was Eileen and her next door neighbour Arnold because omg they made me so happy and are the actual cutest, especially because they are sort of enemies to lovers and it’s just the best! I think I actually squealed when they got together so I couldn’t not pick these two.

Villain of the year

They were so many good villains in the books I read last year, but I think I am going to have to go for The Mor in Winterling, by Sarah Prineas because she was creepy in how she manipulated everyone around her and did blood magic.

I think second place would go to Darius Dent, form the Barnaby Brown series by Michael A.Gordon.

Most disliked character of the year

I don’t really know because I don’t really dislike characters so I’m sadly going to have to leave this blank. If you have one drop them in the comments below.

Royal of the year

Ivy Lovely from the Crowns of Croswald series by D.E.Night.

Ivy is just so sweet and lovely and I honestly love her with all of my heart, I really need to pick up the third book in this series because I really want to know what happens to her and hoe her story progresses.

Sidekick/Non-main character of the year

Minal and Padmini from Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar.

I loved these two in Star daughter and their relationship was definitely something that helped make the book for me. They were just so cute and I loved them so much as side characters.

Siblings of the year

Zuri and Janae from Pride, by Ibi Zoboi.

Did I do this because I didn’t want to put Pride and Prejudice again? Sort of lol!

Anyways, I love the updated dynamic between these two sisters. Especially because it was in a moderns setting and Janae was off at college like I am and so I found that I related to Janae more than I relate to Jane in the original book.
