Hello loves,

We have another tag coming your way today because I have still don’t have a book to review (I’m so close to finishing a couple though).

Today, we have the Dark Academia tag that I found on stories for coffee YouTube, which was originally created by carolynmariereads and emmie on YouTube so mae sure that you go and check those out as well.

Let’s get into it!

Favourite academies or dark book/movie

Sherlock Holmes, by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Ok, so I’m actually not entirely sure if this counts but, Sherlock Holmes definitely gives off dark academia vibes. I have recently read a collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories and I enjoyed it. Mystery isn’t fully my cup of tea but I did think that it was a very well written book.

I do love the RDJ movie with all of my heart and just think that it captures the essence of Arthur Conan Doyle’s books beautifully.

If you like mystery and very clever people then give this book a go.

What dead poet would you like to have a drink with?

Lord Byron or Percy Brysee Shelly.

So, I don’t really read poetry but these two people seem so incredibly interesting that it would just love to sit down with them and talk about their poetry and inspiration.

I mean we all know that Lord Byron lived a pretty crazy life so the historian in me just wants to talk to him about it and learn as much as I could. And, its the same with Percy Brussels Shelly. Also, if you haven’t read Ozymandias go and read it. I studied it at school and loved it!

What is your favourite painting and/or sculpture?

Daphne and Apollo by Bernini.

So, I was lucky enough to see this gorgeous sculpture in person when I went to Italy in 2015 and I encourage you to go and look it up because it is simply beautiful. Also, mythology !

Painting wise, I don’t really have one but I’m taking History of Art as an extra module next year at university so hopefully I can have one soon

What is your favourite architectural marvel?

The Parthenon or the Colossuem.

Can you blame me for loving these tow incredible pieces of architecture. I mean, the fact that they are so old and are still sanding so well in our modern world just makes my mind spin. Again, I have been so lucky to see these two in person and I do not joke when I tell you that I actually teared up when I went through the Propylaia (entrance to the acropolis) and saw the Parthenon in front of me. It’s just stunning, even when it is covered in scaffolding.

The colosseum is also just amazing, especially the underground art that you cant really see. It’s just massive and so impressive. Jut, ugh…

Even thinking about them makes me want to gush about them for ever.

What Shakespeare play would you like to be the lead in?

Twelfth Night or A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

So, I’m not a massive Shakespeare fan but I would love to be part of these plays because they are so funny and crazy. I ramble studying these at school and I just loves them so much, albeit that they are insane crazy in their plots. Plus, She’s the Man is a wonderful adaptation as well so….

How many languages do you speak and which language would you most like to learn?

I speak one and I would love to learn Italian.

So, English is my first language and while I know basic French and German I do not know anything other than that.

I would love to learn Italian though, especially because I love Italy and want to go back there as many times as possible to enjoy the wonderful antiquities and ruins that are there.

If you have any advice please let me know!

What is your favourite quote?

I have too many!!

But possibly…

“With a book he was regardless of time” from one of my favourite books of all time Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

What fictional character’s death is your ideal way to go?

None, because they are all way too dramatic and I would want to go in my sleep.

Character deaths are just way too intense for me so…

What university/college would you like to attend?

While I love Edinburgh, it has to be Oxford.

I actually wanted to go to Oxford for a long time, and while I am happy to be at Edinburgh actually I love it, to study at Oxford wild be a dream. I mean have you seen how beautiful that city is? Also it has an amazing museum. Basically, I just love it so much and would love to live there some day.

What is your murder weapon or murder method of choice?

Poison.

It just seems so sophisticated and harder to trace. Also, I’m a coward so I could never kill anyone with some sort of knife or weapon. I’ll be hiding in the corner after slipping poison in someone’s drink or having paid someone to do it for me.

What mythology would you like to be a part of?

Greek mythology all the way.

It’s my favourite mythology, although let’s be honest I would probably be preyed upon by some god and then left to die. But, you know I can hope that I would be a goddess.

If you had a PHD what would you chose to do it on?

Ancient History.

I am actually considering doing a PHD so, I guess we’ll see what happens. What I would specialise in however I have no idea.

Which fictional character would you die for?

Way too many.

Enough said.

Now some quick fire questions!!

Leather bound or cloth bound books?

Cloth bound.

Dogearing or highlighting pages?

Both.

Sculptures or paintings?

Paintings.

Piano or violin?

Piano.

Films or theatre?

Theatre.

Poetry or prose?

Prose.

Museums or bookshops?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Both.

Smell of books or coffee and tea?

Books.

Fountain pen or type writer?

Fountain pen.

ooh, this tag is so fun! I’m definitely a sucker for anything labeled as dark academia. Poison would also be my weapon of choice, largely because I love Katharine in the Three Dark Crowns series (I’m so worried about what’s going to happen to her in Five Dark Fates, omg)
